SWB Parts vs LWB Parts

As far suspension parts go, is there much difference between a Wasp and Hornet suspension? Are Coils springs different? King Pins, A-Frames, Tie Rods, Center and Drag Link, Spindles?

I picked up a front clip off a '52 Wasp and wondered what would fit my Commodore, if anything.

The front suspension of the Wasp was cut off to make a 350 powered hotrod, the garage had the Wasp for 5 years and from what I understand did a really nice job. The lady owner of the Wasp trailered it to Florida, where she had problems with the door poppers, some would not open and one started to smoke. She took the Hudson back to the customizer to have the poppers fixed. She was on her way back to pick up her Wasp the second time when she received a call that at 4:00AM that morning the garage burned and she lost her car. And hers was the only car in the garage the others had been removed.

  • Pat, The parts that are different on the SWB vs. LWB Hudson stepdowns are in the steering, clutch an d brake drum area.King pins are the same as are tie rods, spindles, coil springs, upper and lower "A"s. Steering arms are different as are brake drums. You can use most of the front end you salvaged for parts. Too bad about the lady's hotrod. Glad you were ableto salvage something.
  • Yep Ken's right. I was thinking Pacemaker. In which case the drums are smaller.
