Stepdown rear axle outer seals

I've just replaced the outer oil seals on my 53 Hornet. First thing I did when I got the old ones out was measure up, and yes its a readily available common size oil seal.

The main point of this post is that you don't need to wrap your old seal in tissue paper, take it to the parts shop or bearing shop, lay it reverently on the counter and whisper that you need a Chicago Rawhide 150066 oil seal for a Hudson.

Save yourself time and aggravation by just asking for a 1 3/4" x 2 7/16" or 1.750" x 2.437" oil seal.

The modern ones are a little thicker than the Chicago Rawhide originals, but there is enough room in the oil seal housing to accommodate it.

This seal fits all stepdown back axles except the Severe Usage (SU) variety.

Now if we could only find a source for the inner axle seals.
