Anybody needing front shocks for their stepdowns should take advantage of Edelbrocks online store sale. Order the shocks to fit a 53 to 62 Corvette and get them for 76% off with free shipping. I just ordered a pair for my 54 Hornet. They are great performance shocks that give a smooth ride and automatically adjust when you hit rough roads or drive agressive. $81.00 for a pair with tax deliverd is a great deal. I have them on my Ranchero and love the ride. They even take paypal

Conventional '53 to '62 Corvette front shocks bolt right in to the stepdowns without any modifications.

    Here is the link:

  • The pic in the link must be of another shock, cause it sure doesn't look the same. The closest thing I could find was the ak series bilstien for racing applications, but i've heard good things about the edlebrocks.

Yeah, the pic is just a generic shock, the vette shock has threaded studs on the top and bottom, just like the stepdown.
  • This is great information. Could someone suggest good rear shocks for a Stepdown? I have a '51 Super Six Brougham.

    Thanks,

    Bob
  • Bilstein also has a front shocks for the corvette, they should work also, I had bilsteins on an old land rover and they were great. Although I've heard recently that the ride of the car shocks is less than desirable.
  • bilstein are more geared towards handling than ride comfort. sounds like a winner for me, with my car going in to battle as a daily, im going to have to be able to drive around all the moderns that pull up faster than i can! ha.
  • From what I've been told the bilstein shocks are being made softer than they were, and don't have the performance tune that they used to. I've searched their racing shocks and there is nothing that will fit, I want the best performance shocks there is short of custom mad ohlins.
