B-W auto. trans
I have been working on a '54 Super Wasp witn a B-W auto trans. It will not stay in the Park position, like the detent ball spring is weak. But in Low and Reverse positions the detent holds firm. This tells me that the detent balls and springs are O. K. but that the selector valve groves are worn in the Park and Neutral positions. Where could a person look for parts for this trans.? What other makes of cars at that time used this trans.? Thanks for any help. Norm

Hey Ron,
Actually I am taking it to Pomona Auto Upholstery tomorrow. I have been working my you know what off getting it ready for Yosemite. Are you going?0 -
Be sure that the shifter and the trans are going all the way into park. Place car on stands, disconnect lever at trans, place trans in park, place shifter in park , check the rod adjustment. If your motor/trans mounts are bad that can also affect it too. Studebaker, and Jaguar also used this unit. Lou Cote0

Have any of you considered switching over to a more modern 4speed -3rd is 1:1 and 4th is OD so there are benefits. An adapter plate and drive shaft are issues, but the 4L60 from a GM car 89-92 is ideal-no PCM shift do dads. They are sure easy to find, rebuild and get "kits" for. Can be "Beefed-up " too.
That is what I am redoing for a school project ,54 Wasp-at Wayne Comm College.
Does anyone fabricate an adapter ?
