Can someone point me in the right direction?

What are the original colors of the exterior paint on a '50 commodore.

Hudsonnut - You have quite a selection of colors on 1950 models: Code 23, Twlight Gray; Code 24, Gray Mist; Code 25, Oriental Green; Code 26, Peacock Green; Code 27, Texas Tan; Code 28, Revue Red; Code 29, Golden Gray light; Code 30, Golden Gray Dark; Code 35, Lagoon Blue; Code 36, Legion Blue; Code 37, Cornish Cream; Code 38, Rivard Blue; Code 44, Deep Maroon; Code 45, Bali Blue; Code 46, Rivera Blue; Code 48, Field Gray; Code 49, Hawaii Green; and Code 58 Deep Maroon. You will find these paint codes stamped into the upper right front door hinge on your car. If by chance, you have a code number other than above, that would mean it was probably a two tone finish. If that's the case, email me at HEThudsonjetman@hotmail.com and I can forward the two tone combo numbers (drop the HET from the above email address)

    Where on the hinge?

    Mine is a bit rusty.

It was a one of the grays repainted cornish cream. I think!

  • On the top hinge fastened to the body post.
  • You missed one color code. #21 Rocket Red, it is out of numerical sequence for some reason. It was only used in 49 & 50. My 50 C8 sedan is this color.

I have, in my files, a 1941 thru 1954 Ditzler paint code chart. Lists the Hudson paint code, color and Ditzler number.

Anybody wants a copy, email me @ NEChudsontech@hetclub.org (drop the NEC)

#21 Rocket Red isn't listed on the Ditzler list I posted about. However, I do have a Car Distribution Department Bulletin, DL.50-12, dtd 3-10-50, showing Revue Red was replaced by Rocket Red, Option Code M, #21, effective with car #500-47195.

It also says the Code number (21) is used for Service Department reference only.

My 1950 C8 sedan, like Tom's, is also Rocket Red, a really beautiful color IMHO.

Russ, I sent a couple of pictures to your e-mail address which I hope is "gmail". I couldn't tell whether the first letter was a "g" or a "q". Let me know if it's "qmail".
