  • I might know of a vendor.....or kind of a vendor

We have tons of wiper stuff including Trico and Hudson. Problem is most of it isn't in the original box or dosn't have any part numbers etc.

The trico stuff.....I have no info on changeover or crossreference for Hudson.

So the trico numbers mean almost nothing to me.

Same with wiper motors. almost all of them arn't in the box anymore so I can't tell if their new, used or what. Let alone if they work. I really don't have any way to test them.

I do know that we have plenty of refill for wipers altho you probably want new from Napa altho most of the rubber on these seems still good.

But if you need arms and want original Hudson or ones that match send me a picture, or measurments something that I could match up to what I have and you might be pleasantly surprised.

We also have transmissions I guess they call them? the chrome part that you can see outside the car. Some are NOS and perfect but would have to be matched up as well.

Of course the price would be reflective of the situation. For anyone who needs this type stuff or others if your in a position to email pictures of parts like this or others you need I can have the high school kids who help in the afternoons match stuff up.

They don't know part numbers - Hudsons - or parts

But have had some good luck finding stuff for people they never thought they'd find.

Heres just some of the wiper stuff we have here..... If nothing else enjoy the pictures...

Steve, if www.wiperman.com sells a number of harder to find older Hudsons like mine (from the 1930's) but you may well find something to fit your StepDown at a "regular" automotive supply.

Last summer I accompanied one of our Hudsonites on a mission to find whatever might be available for wipers, at local parts vendors. We found that an AncoU-15R rubber refill blade will slide into the chrome portion of the blade for his '48-49 style StepDown. This cost less than $5 a pair. He did have to do a bit of trimming of the metal and rubber because the refill was a wee bit too long. But he finally coaxed the refill into the blade holder.

So, you might take your old blade into a parts store and compare it to the above-mentioned refill.
  • These are NAPA numbers for a universal arm, and 11" blades. They were good last fall and they work good on my '54. Both are adjustable in a number of ways and should fit 48-53 stepdowns. If the blades are too big I believe Trico also makes a 10" blade. These aren't cheap, but they work. Good NOS arms would look much better however.

    Wiper Arms: NAPA #60750

    Blades: NAPA # 60016

    Good Luck, Bob

The part number for Wiper Arms is correct. The TRICO number is 51-062. The part number for Blades has a typo. It should be 600116. The TRICO number is 33-111. The Parts Catalog lists different part numbers for 1948 -1953 and 1954. Aftermarket catalogs say that 1948 -1953 have 10 inch blades and 1954 have 11 inch blades. But my '49 has 11 inch blades.

I have in my files for blades: Trico 33-101

    Would this be incorrect?
  • I've never been happy with the type of blades on my 37. I buy extras from ROB so as to have spares because it takes so long to get them, not ROBS fault, just takes time to order/ship. Then when I need them they seem to have deteriorated and don't last no time . Has anyone ever done a successfull conversion to another type ? Or a way to preserve them better other than just keeping them in a closed container out of the atmosphere ? ---BUD

That is the part number for 10 inch blades. If 1948 -1953 Hudsons used 10 inch blades, then it would be correct.
