Speedometer Gears Info Needed
Has anyone ever tried putting in different DRIVE AND DRIVEN gears to correct a speedometer when putting a late model rear end in a 30's car ? Putting a 3:07 in my 37 Terraplane. Drive and driven gears are such that a given drive gear will operate several driven gears. The 37 DRIVE gear is .985 I.D. X 1.940 O.D. X .750 wide , no inner splines and held secure by just the tension against it. If anyone has a DRIVE gear and or driven gear they would part with from a car that had a 3:07 rear or close to it I'd like to give it a try. I think the O.D. would be the only critical factor, width and I.D. could be built up/machined down to size. Thanks, BUD

Since 3.07 was not a factory option in '37, there might not BE any gears available for that praticular transmission. This wouldn't preclude you from making them (with a the help of a good machinist), I'd think. I've also heard of universal gear reductions that can be attached to the transmission and adjusted to fit the ratio, but have never checked them out.0
