Thanks for the pictures! The battery box looks close to the anti-sway bar, does it ever rub?

That is the lever shock absorber I think you will find.

Ok, I understand now. So how does the battery box lid work? It looks like it's got two pins/screws. One stationary with maybe a slot in the plywood lid. The other pin is perhaps a round head screw with a large washer? With no actual internal battery hold down, thus, the plywood lid?

How much of that is true?:)

Guy, I have the battery box for my '36T out of the car. It may be the same part? What you have described is how the '36 works - in fact K-Gap sells the wooden lids. I have the old one and the new one. I moved my battery to the trunk because I got tired of lifting up the floor mat to get to the battery box. I will be back in CA on Sept 9 if you need to use my battery box as a model??

Thanks Richard. Actually, I had K-Gap bring me a new battery lid and differential hole cover. The canvas thing. Anyhow, the battery cover is different. Not the same size from '36 (which they have a '36) to '33. I don't know where the change was made. But at some point the opening dimension was changed. That's ok, I can see the opening size. I'd like to make the box and hold down look sorta' correct. Doesn't have to be exact.

I pretty much know what to do. But I'm not clear on the hold down, and lid. I might just do it.

Sorry can't help you as my car has no lid and no hold down either. The battery is held in place by the stout battery cables so it isn't a problem for me.

the "lid" which sits down in a slightly recessed lip around the edge of the battery box is made of wood with a hole drilled in it so you can lift it out.

Thanks Cargray, I got excellent information from you guys and I'm very happy, I will keep on informing you all about the next steps. We need to keep those rare and nice antique cars in a good shape in particular as there are no Terraplanes around here. I appreciate very much your help !!!
Today, the engine ran but only a few seconds as I did not put coolant yet and I've a leakage on one exhaust manifold gasket, so I will fix this soon. Great to hear the engine running again !

I got the info from Terraplane 8, head light lenses are underway ;)
The only missing part to run is the original water pump, pulley and fan.

I have two pumps with my dads engine, not sure which one is correct. The one mounted to the head has been on the engine a long time, so I assume it is original.

Not much news so far, I'm still looking for an original water pump fot this Terraplane 8 1933, I found a company (EGGE) who remanufactures these pumps, does it mean make a new one or rebuild the original one ? (I do not have it...)
Any help or advice will be very much appreciated !

Most all of them want an exchange pump, at minimum. I just got mine back for a 34T - my guy used a place in Oregon. What is of interest is that I had been told that the old packing nut type water pump could not be "modernized" ...these guys rebuilt a 34 pump with the 'modern seals'...of course it does not look as original anymore, but it should work better.
Of course the 36 - 47 water pumps are much easier to get; Kostansek/Cheney were selling them off earlier in the year for $90 outright (no exchange) in the WTN, and there are 3 or 4 on EBAY right now.
Maybe some of the technical guys can say if a 36 pump can be made to work ...I wonder now, since I had been told I could not 'modernize' the 34 water pump and it turned out not to be true.

Today I made new exhaust manifold gaskets out of special material. I made also the one between inlet/outlet and put everything back together. There are no more exhaust gas leakages neither coolant (came through a thread). The engine runs fine but starts to heat after 10-15 minutes idle (outside temperature +/- 40°F), I guess the pump I have does not circulate properly :(
    (the radiator is new)

Water pump issue has been definitely identified as root cause by now, the engine did have this problem already when I bought it, that's why valves & seats have been regrinded (they were in need fot it anyway). After everything has been put together, I removed the silencer as it could also be a cause of overheating but same issue as foreseen...
After this I spend many hours trying to find a water pump close enough to be adapted instead of the original one. I even found out that this one comes from a Fiat 1100 neckar and part of it is still in the Fiat cylinder head lol !
Today I found one that could fit but can't tell from what car it comes, I bought it from a person who is selling stickers, so...
Apparently there is no need for big modifications on the pump to make it fit, it might need an overhaul (?). I will come back with more news once this item is here
The car will not be 100% original but at least the long time waiting to enjoy this car might come to an end !
Of course I'm still interested to find an original pump !
