how close are the 35 Ford Horns in comparison to the Terraplane 1s
as you can get in 6 and 12 volt and the 35 look so cool
way better than the ooogha style

They are very close, the only difference is in the dome top, I suppose you are talking about the ones attached to the headlamps.0
-
I think they're the same - but you should try to get the ones without Ford script on them.0

Hi Mike
I've got a couple of those you could look at if you are in Wellington or are coming to Wanganui for the Internat Rally in mid Jan.. Will 6 volts be a problem?? No Fraud script on them!!!

hi Dave don't think I will make either unfortunately
would I be able to put a relay in to convert them?
email me
Thanks

I think you'll need to make up some fixing brackets because the horns on 34 and 35 Fords are attached differently from the external horns that Hudson used.0

You should put in a horn relay anyhow, but you will still need to drop the voltage to 6 volts.0 -
Hi Dave, i used the wrong words, have a relay already
i meant to put can i put in something to drop the power to 6 volt?

I understand you can drop the voltage but you'll need advice from someone more knowledgeable in these matters than I am. An old time auto electrician or possibly Geoff Clark would be a good start or there are several posters on this forum who seem to be knowledgeable in this area.0

spoke to my auto electrician, said no worries he could sort it
if anything recons will make the horns louder

A funny story..
Many years ago, My father wanted to use a 6 volt Model A Ford Ahoogah horn on a 12 volt car. He asked his neighbor, who was an elecrical engineer, what to do?,,
He told him to use a 6 volt tail lamp bulb in series with the horn. Of course every time he pushed the horn button, the bulb blew out! He called me and asked for advice. I told him to try a headlight bulb! It worked, but with a slight delay.. LOL.. In fact, a simple tightening of the adjuster slowed the motor down enough to work just fine..0
