Is the ring gear on a 262 the same as on a 308, ?
Just wondering, as my starter keeps jamming, and is a bear to get unstuck. Starter drive has 9 teeth.

Yes, but the hydramatic versions are different from the manual.

The starter requires a set of studs that fit into the bell housing to keep the starter Bendix aligned.

Are the starter mounting studs used with hydramatic transmissions? I have not seen these on my two hydramatic cars.

Those studs are for the manual trans cars.

Sorry for the confusion... I did not realize the car in question was equipped with a hydramatic.
