1951 Pacemaker 2 Door Coupe (4A) ---Search Continues for the Back Windshield
I took the 1951 Pacemaker to the glass shop yesterday with a back windshield that had graciously been "donated" to me and a brand new window seal sourced from Doug. I had spent many hours this summer preparing the body and painting the shell so that the glass channel surfaces would have paint. Boy was I disappointed when the glass shop called a few hours later saying the glass didn't fit. It's approximately 1.5" too long and the curved upper corners don't fit (pics below).
I've called Metro and Bob's Classic Auto Glass out of Oregon and both confirmed that glass for this particular year and body style isn't made. Bob's informed me that the part number for the '51 Pacemaker Coupe is DB205 and that they do offer DB204, which fits a '51 2 door sedan, but WILL NOT FIT the Coupe.
HELP! Does anyone have a rear windshield for this car? It's becoming harder to justify putting any more time and money into this labor of love project without it.

The 51 LWB coupe will work as well. Not that thats any help. It's a one year only rear glass.

Rob I’m sorry to hear that about the rear window, I’ll climb up in my rafters tomorrow morning and have another look at the other windows. I’ll give you a call when i can put eyes on everything that is up there.

No problem Andrew! I sincerely appreciate the fact that you gave me that windshield. Now that we know it doesn't fit I'll return it to you. Maybe you have a '51 Coupe up in the rafters??
For the sake of record keeping the window above is approximately 48" WIde x 21" Tall. The width was taken across the mid-section of the window (about 1/2 between the top and bottom edges).
My guess is that a '51 2 Coupe window will be approximately 48" wide X 18" tall (same width, 2-3 inches shorter.)
Thanks

As far as that sedan windshield is concerned, I need one. Do you want to sell and if so how much and possible shipping. I’m near Lubbock, TX. Thanks guys

Not sure which windshield you refer to. Are you interested in buying the front windshields off this '51 parts car?

I parted out a 51 Hudson Pacemaker coup 30 some years ago. After seeing your post I checked in my barn and found the rear window from it. You can have it if you would like. You would just need to figure out shipping or pick up. I am located near Grand Rapids, MI. Where are you located? Glen Kellogg, 616-822-1775

I was wanting the wrong backlight that you received that fits a ‘51 sedan.

Thanks Glen! I'll buss you and see what we can arrange. I sure would like to marry your window to the other parts car (which is in decent shape and has a '79 Camaro front disc clip). Reversing the effects of entropy is big part of our hobby...

Hello Cheyenne7271 ---Let me first double check with the seller I purchased that rear- window from (he's indicated he might want it back). If he doesn't need it, I'll call Bob's Classic Glass and ask if he's willing and what he'd charge to send us one (or two, read above) of his shipping boxes (empty). It's a purpose built box that should maximize the odds of the window(s) arriving at our doorsteps crack free. Check this thread next week for an update.
