Fuel Filter Needed

The local auto parts stores and the Tractor Supply Company do not have any.

I am in need of the aftermarket fuel filter, similar to that in the picture below. I am not sure of the thread count (I still have not learned how do do that yet) for the input and output (male).

Any recommendations?

Around these parts, you can get that sediment-bowl style fuel filter at any tractor supply store, if that helps at all.

Ok, here's proof that I didn't read the first sentence of your post....DUH.
  • Here's where using the AMC pump I told you to use from the get-go would have paid off. I would recommend adding a filter before the pump, after the steel line. get a generic one that has the right line diameter, and tuck it around the frame. If I can get a picture, I'll send one your way, in a couple of hours... The filter I am using was a generic Autozone one, mounted before my AMC $15.00 pump. The line going to one of my 2 carbs was made locally by my hose guy. total cost. from steel line to carb, including pump, $50. life long materials!

It'll get you close to running!

I opted to stay with the rebuilt OEM Dual Action pump. I was hoping to stay with the older style sediment filter for style even thought it was not OEM but dealer added (after more research of the family documents).

When I have the fuel lines replaced completely and the tank done, I'll have them put in a nice unit underneath.

Right now, I am just trying to find one of these.

I even took the broken one I have (cheap pot metal) with me.

If the TSC in your area has them, I wonder why mine does not. Would you get a number so I can request a special order to store to store transfer?

Thank you. My search of E-bay is limited to items that have "hudson" some where in the Title or Description. 3/8 is what I think it now that you have given me a number. It is a larger line segment. The one I took off my Carter WA-1 749S carb was attached just like the picture above - right next to the carb.

I also had trouble finding a new enough unit that didn't have dried out seals or chipped glass. I ending up running a steel line from the pump outlet to the carb inlet. I spliced an in-line filter with barb fittings upstream of the fuel pump. It is fairly easy to change and in a protected area inside the frame rail.

  • The thread is 1/8 pipe on inlet and outlet

I was able to get two good glass filters off of Ebay. One was NOS. I have the part numbers for the gaskets for glass filters if anyone is interested.
  • hudson kid- go get yourself a pipe bender and flare kit, the tools wont cost too much more than $50 and you have tools to make up any pipe you would ever need in the future. i just replaced the entire line in my pacemaker from tank to carb and used 5/16" line, but i would like to know where to get fuel line clips, i kinda dodged up some split pin ones

Were those the Carter or AC filters? If Carter, what are the part numbers?

    Thanks.

half baked..... I'm good. My car runs and drives. I have a working fuel pump, fuel line, and filter. No problems here! Perhaps this was a reply meant for Pacemaker500?

You can get the fuel line clips at places that sell the stainless steel brake lines. Inline Tube, etc. The clips are black oxide coated steel.

Thank you, SuperDave, for the offer. Another Hudson owner has already stepped (via Private Message) with the same offer.

They are both Carters. They both have the same number (2146397) on them even though they are not alike. One is the Compact model and the other is a standard size 2 inch model.

Do you have the part number for the gaskets? Are the gaskets still available?

Yes the gaskets are still available. The diameter is outside diameter of the glass bowl.

    Diameter Gasket Number

    2 1/4" Carquest/NAPA D34545, Felpro 5019

    2 1/8" Carquest/NAPA D35288, Felpro 773

    2" Felpro 12473

Note: You can get a gasket and paper filter under Carquest 86943 or NAPA 3943

1 7/8" (This is Carter's Compact Model) The only place I found that had a gasket was a web site.

    www.fasterthanthem.com

The gasket is part number CAR-23A20. The filter is part number CAR-3082.

Thanks for the info and the link. I have one of the smaller Carter units but the gasket is as hard as stone and the filter medium is missing.
