Greg Brady Parts; Can you tell me what these are?

For those of you too old or young to be familar with the Brady Bunch may not relate to this..... But for those of you who grew up watching it as I did, you may remember the 1971 episode where Greg Brady bought a beater convertible.....he said the was going to "Fix it up", and when he finished, he had a big pile of parts he did not put back on the car and referred to them as "left over parts he did not need". Needless to say, the car fell apart and Mr. Brady gave him the now famous "Caveat Emptor" (let the buyer beware) speach.

Why am I babeling about this? Because I have my own left over parts. I have the entire car back to together and a few days ago found the parts in the photo below (now referred as the Greg Brady parts).

Sick of trying to remember where they came from. Perhaps a buddy threw them in my Hudson parts bin to drive me nuts.

Any thoughts??

What you have are, 2 bolts, 2 spacers, 2 nuts and 1 lock washer Hmmmmm Must have lost the other lock washer. :) Good luck, Ron

Have you checked the hydrosolator? These bolts probably were probably meant to hold it together.

From the looks of the items, I would say they were in the weather, under the car..How about a master cylinder mounting bolt set? Other than the muffler bearing support, thats all I can think of. Davew

How about Rear Stabilizer mounting bolts?
  • Since we all know that Hudsons were overbuilt, just put it aside. If you haven't missed it yet, you probably don't need it. Reminds me of a wacky part I found in a car I bought. Never installed it and the car ran just fine. Why? Because the part was not from that car.
  • These look vaguely familiar....
  • Dennis the bolts and sleeves are from the transmission mount.

  • I was about to say tranny mount fastenerss - that's what came out of my Commodore parting experience.

I agree they look like transmission mounting bolts

Okay, I was being facetious in my earlier post, but can you please explain how these hold the transmission on??? Or are they for an auto transmission? I sure don't recognize them as being part of the engine mount, or the drive shaft support.

    Geoff.

Dennis, i don't remember that episode, though i did catch a rerun 15 or so years ago of another show of that period which i think had the same message, thanks to only getting a couple channels and being forced to watch some real quality stuff. the older son on the Partridge Family bought a $300 car i don't quite remember all the details. what i do remember the cream puff car in that episode was a black and white 52 Hollywood.

I was just going to congratulate you on only having two Brady parts left over, but will add that I, too, think they are transmission mounting bolts, beings as how I was able to see the outcome of the voting above.

Would help if we knew what model Hudson you have and what diameter are the bolts. 1/4"-5/16"-3/8"-1/2" 9/16" 5/8" etc etc.

The Standard transmission mount is bolted to the cross member with this bolts. The cross member has a round hole cut on either side to allow the inserting of these bolts the nuts go on the top of the cross member.

I Agree With Ken Now Either You Have Used New Bolts Or Your Transmission Is About To Fall Out I'm Hopeing That You Used New Bolts Lol
  • Well that explains why the transmission fell out. I am changing my profile to Greg Brady in NY. Oh, for the record, I used new bolts. Or that is my story and I am sticking to it.

Leave it to Ken to come up with the answer. Good show! He's just priceless. HI DENNIS!
