just curious if anyone out there knows if there are more 1940 pickups out there running, or more 1941's? production numbers are just a few less 1941's, but it seems to me I have seen more 1941 pickups for sale. I want to get about three of the rarest hudson trucks, might sell my 1946, definitly keeping the 41. got the 46 from glen in Utah about 5 years ago, bought another 46 from glen about 8 years or so ago, that one I sold and went to Montana. god I love these trucks!!

don't know. bought restorable 46-47 trucks for $1000 to $2000. seen running or very nice not missing parts ones for $4000 to $5500, still needing restoration. go to the web and they go up very high (people think they are rare). However, I'm no expert on these, so just my opinion. now does anyone know the answer to the 40 or 41 question?

Despite low production figures for '46-'47 those trucks are not really as rare as you'd think, a lot of people seem to have kept them and many survive. As far '40-'41 Pickups they are indeed more rare then '46-'47's and I think also came in 2 wheelbase sizes unlike the post-war trucks.
  • We once had a pretty good 1942 hudson pick-up that we sold , now that was rare only 67 comm. vehicles made by Hudson that year. I wish i could figure out how to post pictures of it i would it was probably sold to a HET member i would like to find out someday.
  • Well; I guess subtle isn't one of my strong points, I was trying to ask what you were going to ask for your 46 if you decide to sell it. I don't know what condition yours are in so it's just an exploratory question. I would like the truck Bill A has but I don't think that will be in my budget soon. I'm just looking but not to hard right now.

If you ask Charlotte Sargent nicely, she might run you a listing of the trucks you want. I'm the registrar for the 41-47 and there are some 250 that are registered. I have a 47 daily driver and a 46 in restoration. Expect to pay $1000 for one that needs a lot of work, maybe $3000 for one that needs some work, $7000 for one you can drive, and $12000 to $15000 for a nice one.
  • I've got a 42 pickup Big Boy that needs restoration. Thinking about going streetrod. Is this worth more as streetrod or restored? Many people are tellng me that a rod is worth more than restored. Here is an example this 42 coupe is on ebay right now http://www.brownssales.com/hudson42coupe.htm Current bid is at 30,000 buy it now 44,800 What are you're thoughts???

Actually, I don't think that's a '42 -- is it? The grille 'reads' as a '40 or '41 (I'm not good enough to tell the difference)

I agree, not a 42'. If "hoseman" does have a fourty-two, don't street rod it. Sacreligous. Not enough of these old girls around to do that. IMHO
  • Here are some pictures of my 42. I have most of the parts. Found this an a garage in NE Detroit. Been sitting for 45 years. Needs alot of work. Do you think it's worth more as streetrod or restored?

Why do you want to know what it's worth. Are you trying to make money? (Rod it) or do you want to drive one of the coolest trucks ever made? (Get it at least running/driving with correct running gear/looks and have a blast)

I just took my original rusty bent ratty old 47 daily driver to a show and sucked all the people away from the rods. They just wanted to look at it and hear it run.
  • I want to know what they are worth because I would like to be able to buy one someday and not have to hock the farm to do it. Of course I want a step down also so I will have to decide which I can afford first, and hope I live long enough to get the other.

  • Yup,believe that's what's left of a 41 Jon.
  • The 40 and 41 trucks are pretty rare. My Dad has a 41 long wheelbase, and there are three 40 and 41 short wheelbase trucks within 5 miles of him.
