    Do any others of you have one of these for sale (perhaps with fewer dents)? Also, I'm looking for an eight cylinder Supermatic (Drivemaster) mounting (to engine) bracket. I have a six cylinder one to trade if someone wants it.

    Sure Danny, you could have said hey guys, I found this air cleaner I plan on selling on ebay and don't know what it is. Be right up front, there isn't any shame in it.

    Thank you Harry,this is my point exactly. Just being honest on your intention was all it took.We would still have done all the same identification for you.James P.,how many of the Drivemaster parts do you need.I guess I have collected alot of it. PM or email me if you interested.

    Knowledge is worthless unless you're willing to share it. In my 30 plus years of Hudson related interests, I've always appreciated Hudson folks and their generosity and willingness to share information. Especially in regards to anything (cars, parts, literature, mechanical advice, stories, etc) Hudson related. It's sad to think that a response to a question might be conditional. That without knowing WHY someone is asking a question, potential information might not be passed along freely, so that you won't feel used or taken advantage of. What should it matter why someone needs help identifying a part? I think that exchanging information and freely sharing knowledge is one reason why this Hudson forum has thousands more posts/responses than the other makes. Look how many people got involved and put their thinking caps on about this air cleaner.... I don't have one myself and I don't need one, but I found the information really interesting. Great cars and great people, that's what it's all about. What more could we ask for?

    Aaron, I don't think anything is conditional. I do think being honest about your intentions is always the best policy. If he would have said he planned on selling the aircleaner he probably would have gotten offers from here,He already had an offer or at least a request as to whether he wished to sell it. So he knew there was interest here. I can't guess his motives for not considering offers from those who were helping him. The information he received was given without reservation and he is free to profit from it. I just felt he should have been upfront about why he wanted to know.

    Oh well, it's mine now. I still need a Supermatic (Drivemaster) mounting bracket to fit an eight cylinder. Anyone?

    James, I'm glad a member got it. How was the Supermatic different than the Hydramatic? It was hard enough to find someone to work on the Hydramatic, I got lucky and found an old Hydro expert who had a good selection of parts, what have you found in Supermatic experts?

    I thought it was bought right. I don't think the dents are going to be a problem. I keep thinking I could get into restoring these, If I got a bit better at it, but don't think there is demand for it. I got two more sets of twin H oil bath cleaners to do, and a set of paper filter ones, to finish. Then I can start of the 2 barrel 50 air cleaner I got.
