Non Hudson Question

My brother and I bought a 1930 Chevrolet 4 door sedan about 25 years ago from our brother in law. The car had a bad engine and we never did anything to it because it was only a Chevy and not a cherished Hudson. We are trying to sell the car now and cannot find a serial number anywhere on the car. Does anyone know were it might be?

  • If you looked at the usual places, engine, firewall, door posts, flloor boards, there is probably one on the chassis/frame but getting to it is another matter.
  • Standard Catalog of American Cars says serial number is "on right body sill under floor mat ..." Should begin with 9AD, 12AD or 21AD depending on whether it's a "club sedan," "4-dr sedan" (most common), or "Special Sedan." All these are 4-door, 5 passenger models. 9s were built in Norwood, OH, 12s in Buffalo, NY, 21s in Janesville, WI.
