master cyl rebuild for '53

hello to all. i am new to forum and starting to bring a 53 hornet back to life. does anyone know if the brass section on the rear of the master cyl just unscrew. thanks

  • Yes the brass distribution block will unscrew. There should be two threaded holes in it, one goes to the front brakes.the other to the rear. Master cylinder # NAPA 3081, Raybestos 17798. If you need wheel cyl. numbers ,return spring #'s or holddown hardwear #'s I have them too. Welcome to the world of Hudson Lou Cote

    thank you, i will give it a twist. i just didn't want to try if it wasn't threaded.

    that's exactly how it came apart. as soon as i found out it was threaded i gave it a twist and it came off. my local oreillys carrys dorman stuff so i bet i can get it from them. i have bought variety packs of copper washers from them. i will keep the dimentions you gave and ask for them. thanks again, hr
