  • Here is Harry Luff's dealership in Salt Lake City in 1940. dealership is located at 13th south and 700 east. You might find it interesting that the 1937 Terraplane pickup is now mine and the one shown in the upper left corner.

Anyone have a listing for New Castle, Pennsylvania? I believe the dealer was on North Mercer street. The building is still standing and has the ship and castle crest over the door. Will try and get a picture when I visit over the weekend.

I talked to the Lawrence County Historical Society and the building is supposed to be on North Street not North Mercer. I believe it now belongs to Comcast, previous owner was Universal Rundle. Not 100% sure of the location. I have been meaning to visit the Library but have not made the time.

I live close by, if you want company to try and find the building email me.
    pat.l@comcast.net or PM me here.

The following are some pics I'm posting on behalf of Glen. He bought some NOS driving lights on ebay for his 49 and they came in the original box sealed with the old style Christmas tape as well as original directions.

I don't know if you have it in your dealer lists:

My father was a mechanic and, later, the service manager for J.C. Bednar Motors Inc., 520 Boston Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They started as a dealer in 1919 until they closed in the early eighties. They sold Hudsons and then kept with the Ramblers, AMCs, and Jeeps.

Here is a picture of Lanson Brothers Garage from Wallingford, CT. My brother and I purchased 3 of our Hudsons from George Lanson In 1977.

That diagram needs to be in the club library.

  • A client of mine brought this ad from a 1949 Las Vegas Review Journal.
  • Arnie,

If you look on page 31 of Langworth's "Hudson: The Classic Postwar Years" there's a reprinted map of the dealership locations circa 1947 across the country. In Nevada, looks like we had them in Ely, Elko, Vegas, Tonopah, Austin, Fallon, Reno, Carson, Winnemucca, maybe Pahrump and about half a dozen other places as well. Of course finding the family members of some of those previous store owners (to see if they have NOS parts in their garages) is quite difficult. I've tried and come up with nothing here in Ely.

Anyone familiar with the Brown Motor & Implement dealership in Goodland, KS that sold Hudson's in the early '50's? My wife's family purchased a new '52 Hornet there. We still have the car but no information about that dealership.
  • Little Young Mid 80's Lady

Went to a job today (Lakewood Calif.) and met a very nice young lady in her mid 80's I would guess. She had one of those berlap desert water bags hanging in her garage and asked if she would like to sell it. She said no it was her husbands and thought it must of been a keep sake for her. I said it would be for my 1929 Hudson..She said HUDSON ??, my family owned a Hudson dealership back in the old days in Coffeyville, Kansas named Lair Motor Co. We talked a little and she never said another word about that desert bag. LOL. Oh well..Ron

When I get back home I would be happy to send every thing but the lights to who ever will preserve them for the use of all. All I need is the address and if you want the original or a copy.
