Compression

Does any one know what the ideal cold compression was on a late model 28 Super Six Hudson. Starting one through six mine runs 58, 68, 64, 56, 62, 64. I have pages of details of every kind, but nowhere the compression or the compression ratio.

Does it go up with a few squirts of oil in the cylinders? (ring leak) or not (valve leak)?

Sounds a little low to me but they're even which is good.

The readings you have would be about right for a cold motor, however you should really check them hot to get a reliable reading. The starter motor is a reduction drive, so the engine swings over really slow.
