palnuts

Who knows? The question will be answered if one of em loosens up. Only takes a few minutes, just do it.0
-
Of course they're necessary - the pal nuts cost under a buck each (I haven't checked the prices lately - but I'm sure it's under a buck).
You got to ask yourself - how much is a new engine gonna cost you if a rod loosens up enough to exit itself thru the side of the block, hmmmmmmm??
As Uncle J says "just do it". Cheap insurance.

I wouldn't stick my neck out and say they NEVER work loose. There is that fellow named ---- Murphy!!!!
Let's just say that I was an engineman (fancy name for mechanic) for 17 years in the Coast Guard and I never found a loose one or one that had come unglued, so to speak.

do you happen to know the correct size for a 56 308?0
-
Same as the bolt it's going on - I can't remember the size of the rod cap bolt. If it's 7/16"-24, for example then whatever the nut size is will be what the pal nut will be.
