It looks like your right Doc. I never would of believed it, until I saw pictures of more than one done like this. I still would like to see some other '40 pick-ups, if there are any?
Here is what looks like a factory "drawing". Not a very good example, I know. But notice the reflection/corner of the rocker extends all the way back to the fender. In '41-'47 the rocker would stop at the front of the bed box.

The rear fender wheel opening seems to be larger, full opening, as compared to 3/4
in the OP photo.0 -
I beleive that black & white pic is of a 1941 pickup rather than a 19400

The one that bent metal posted is a 40 by looking at the door handles and the # of grill bars.0
