Just checking in at 12:15 AM Saturday morning, from French Lick. Am about to head out to the parking lot, hope some beer is still available! It was a good day today, sunny but not overly hot. Not sure how many people. Thought I heard someone say 180 cars but seems like more! Never saw so many 1954's in one place, and there are also some very interesting 1920's vehicles, including several 4-cylinder Essexes.

Hi Jon (and everyone!),
Have been looking through the pictures, and reading the 'first person accounts' of the activities - looks like a very nice venue, overall great weather, and very well attended. I really like that it looks like at least some of the flea market areas are within the parking garage (i.e., under cover).
I've only seen pictures of a few pickups, and have not yet seen a picture of any '39 (coupe, sedan, convertible, pickup, etc..). :-/ @-)

I don't know what the "official registered" number of cars was, but I counted 212 Hudsons on friday.
I don't think the venue could have been any better. I know "counts" and parts may have seemed down to some of us old birds, but for the year we live in, I think the meet was outstanding. I count it as one of, if not THE best nationals ever.

Here are some of my favorites.

I heard there was about 345 cars registered.0

Here's a few of the older gals - including a couple of Essex's for Geoff. I got a ride in the Limousine - great car, beautifully done. I also got a ride with Dave Bean in his 1920 Essex - thanks guys, for the memory.
Haven't done so much walking as I did at this meet. I swear it was a half-mile from the lobby to the Hudson, et al, parking section - and that was just thru the hotel and event sections!!!!! Lordy, I'm still recovering.
The meet planners did something different this year - they sorted the cars into year groups. They did this by putting the owners name from registered cars on a piece of masking tape stuck to the parking area where the car fit. Thus you could walk thru the lot and start at 1909 and go thru the years. It also ensured that your parking spot would be there should you take your car somewhere.

It wasn't all Hudsons and getting back together with family, making new friends - we also had a train ride. And we were attacked by bandits!!!! The great train robbery!!!! It was all in fun, including gun shots and all. I thought maybe those of you who didn't make the train ride on Saturday afternoon would like to see some of it.
I talked to one of the sheriffs deputy's and learned something interesting. If you note, in the picture of the deputy as he is standing by his horse, he has two pistols - one on the right and the 2nd positioned in a cross-draw position on the left. As he explained it in a gun fight on horse back the rider held the reins in his left hand and fired with his right. When one gun was empty, he holstered it and reached across with is right hand to cross-draw the 2nd pistol keeping the reins in his left hand.
Another point was a couple of the cowboys had sawed off shot guns. Despite what Hollywood westerns would have you believe a good scatter gun was the weapon of choice - usually from behind - back in the wild west days.
In the picture of the bad guy being hung - they actually did hang the guy!!!! Noose over his head and all (he had a harness with a hook in back so he didn't really get hung!!!) But it sure looked authentic!!!!!
What made this re-enactment was that the costumes were period, again as opposed to the stereotype Hollywood movies.
The last picture was of a bandit working the passengers on the train - he had a little sack and you could toss whatever money you wanted to. I tossed in a couple of burnt out AA batteries - but later dropped a $5 in to make up for it. LOL
All in all it was highly entertaining and, if you so desired, educational too.
Hudsonly,
