From my experience installing 1 1/8 inch anti sway bars on my cars an on many other cars, the handling improvement is outstanding. Not just a little tiny bit of improvement, it is a huge improvement in limiting body roll in corners. It controls body roll so well you will feel like it is going around the corner flat compared how your car handles now. Better control on irregular road surfaces and strong gusty cross winds. As the old saying goes, it is like the difference between night and day. You will wish you had installed them after your first ride in your car. It will be a little stiffer ride but going around mountain curves will put a smile on your face. You might even feel like taking the corners a little faster like newer cars can do today. (Because they have big anti sway bars.)
I had a 89 Mustang with totally worn out shocks that had "0" shock control.. The car floated around like a rowboat in ruff water and it was unnerving on tight corners.. I installed a larger anti sway bar off a salvaged police Mustang without changing any shocks. It cornered like a go kart after that with total control. No more floating around. I never did replace those worn out shocks after that because the Mustang handled so well.
This probably will not convince anyone, but if you ever get a chance to ride in a Hudson with bigger anti sway bars, I think some minds may be influenced.
All stepdowns have 3/4" anti sway bars. Even a 1" anti sway bar, if you can find one to fit, would make a very big big handling improvement.
Everyone has been trying for 100 + years to improve Hudson handling with trying all different kinds of shock absorbers. Hudson finely began installing anti sway bars that helped a lot. But they and other car manufactures were still trying with stiffer shocks to do what a bigger anti sway bar can do better. There is no shock that can control body roll in anyway close to how well a larger sway bar can. A larger anti sway bar with weak shocks will always outperform a smaller anti sway bar with stiff shocks. I provided that with the Mustang with bigger anti sway bar and shocks that were doing no shock control whatsoever.
That is my 2 cents. For whatever it is worth. Original be hanged. I will soon have my new bar.

Walt raised a good point, can the stock Hudson sway bar mounts, be strong enough for the new bars?
I sent John some pictures with measurements and he will get back with an answer.
Just taking a quick look, maybe adding a weld bead on the bottom of mount and A-arm would be wise to prevent 'lifting at the front rivets?

Just got a reply back from John at ADDCO. After looking at my pictures and measurement he replied -

Kerry-I think that's a wise decision. That's one of those, "It can't possibly hurt, and may very well help"-type of scenarios. Besides, snice you have that off of the car (I think?), it's much easier to add the bead on the bench.0

Walt had mentioned to me about the stress on the bracket with a bigger bar. In my business I saw many stress related breakage on suspension parts. Most were related to brackets extending out from frame or control arms. Many Hudsons are already high mileage cars with many stress cycles on sway bar brackets. Mine has 78,000. The weld may be enough, but the leverage is still there. I have seen sway bar brackets brake at the link hole and where bracket is mounted.
I'm thinking about triangulating the bracket with a support brace from extended outer edge of bracket down to the lower lip of control arm. That would eliminate leverage stress across bracket.
Also, may consider reinforcing the frame where anti sway bar is mounted.
Another thought for appearance sake, I have seen some factory fixes where the factory would come out with a new part with steel round rod welded to new part for reinforcement. Hardened round rod could be formed and welded to the outer or inner perimeter of bracket to make it much stronger.

Just wondering what kind of tire clearance you have when all the way right/left, as well as what size tires are you running on the front?

Could not begin to tell you? Running too large a tire but I have 5 of them that came with car: P235-75-15.
I would feel better with 225.
Not sure what clearance you are referring to. The bar is exactly the same as the original dimensions except the diameter. Was patterned after an original bar. That was the beauty of the manufacturing process. Also it is powder coated.
The links are aftermarket; the new ones from ADDCO (w/kit) have not been received yet. Measurements for these were taken from original links. May be slightly larger in diameter than original requiring a slight drilling of the bottom A-arm link hole.

Well, I was talking about the clearance between the tires and the sway bar when turned all the way right or left. Apparently, your tires don't hit the sway bar.
It just looked in the pics like the new one had slightly different angles for the legs, but that must be an optical illusion. Thanks for the info!
