Road draft tube, vent tube

Unknown
edited November -1 in HUDSON
I need the tube that goes in the back valve cover. I know some call it a road draft tube, and some call it a crankcase vent tube. The one that was on the 262 that was in the car when I got it was gone. And the 308 I replaced it with did not have one either.

If anyone can help me with a tube for a 308, let me know.

Thanks

Mike

    FYI

I would put a grommet and PCV valve into the cover running a 3/8" hose to a vacume Line and switch to a Mopar Fill cap (with nipple), then run a 5/8" hose from cap nipple to bottom of one air filter .

I been using a Chevy V8 PCV valve set-up like this in all my Hudsons for yrs. It is especially nice when guides are a little worn by eliminating vapor over the fender at stop lights..

Just my opinion, but feel there may be some added engine longetivity by using a modern a PCV System....
  • If you want to attempt the PCV installation, you'll have to determine how to properly meter what amounts to a calibrated vacuum leak. Then, you'll need a flame arrestor in the air cleaner to prevent a back-fire in the intake manifold from igniting explosive gases within the crankcase. Finally, and unless you want to create a James Bond smoke screen while you drive, you'll need a baffle before the PCV valve to encourage oil vapor to condense on it and stay out of the intake. Good luck.

  • The other issue with a PCV system is that if you add a planned vaccum leak you will need to re calabrate the fuel mixture accordingly. My brother bought a 54 Hornet that had a PCV on it along with a fairly recent valve job. It had stainless exh valves. All of the exh valves were burnt, especially #6 which had a split to the center of the valve. I did another valve job & put the road draft tube back on. I would not mess with the factory setup unless you can figure out all of the modifications to make it work.
  • Tube found. Thanks everybody.
