You can't beat the feeling of driving away in YOUR Hudson now. Great job Anna, rescuing that car from the 23 year old guy. Good thing he saved the car for you to buy.0
-
the guy should have keep it as it was
we have to promice him not to build a street rod of it
or else he would not sell it to me
so the car is gonna be like this for now
/regards0 -
Hello Anna,
What a nice find, great looking car for what I'd consider to be an outstanding price!
I wouldn't change a thing other than make it safe to drive - have fun and please, post more pictures!

thank you for that hudson 308
i didnt now obout ohms
so i will have that in mind
now to another problem
where can i find the vacum so i can connect the window vipers
i couldtn find it att the fule pump or on the intake manifold !!!!
but under the carb base on the intake there is a plugg can i connect it there
or is there another place to conect the vipers to
regards/ Annakarin0 -
There should be a connection on the intake manifold. Where was the wiper motor connected before?
You will probably have to repair the wiper motor because the seals become hard. Many people soak the inside of the motor with a leather restorative, like "neats foot oil". You suck the oil into the motor by turning the lever on the motor back and forth. Then you allow the oil to sit for a few days. This softens the leather seal so the motor will work again.
Also, you may find a company that repairs antique automobile wiper motors. In American we have several. One is at www.wiperman.com . They repair the motors, and they sell new blades that will fit your car.
Another thing to help the motor work better, is to add a "dual action fuel pump". This pump is in two parts. The upper part provides additional vacuum for the fuel pump. The lower part pumps the petrol.0 -
hi jon b
the conection was off and just the rubber hose was there
when i took the hose the hose fellapart so i was in the garage today and lookt at it, but not so mutch i will go to the garage tomorrow

hopefully i will find it tomorow when theres light in the garage
maby the hole is just pluggd with something

It's great to see that you have purchased the car Anna Karin and the pictures you have posted are just dandy. I ALWAYS like to see these old things been driven and it looks as if you've got the right ideas about getting it back on the road.
My 112 is starting to look and sound tired at the moment but it still drives and still turns heads where ever I use it and that's all part of the fun of owning these old cars.
Enjoy it - I'm sure you will!0 -

Hi AnnaKarin,
I have sent you an email regarding parts etc. I have a few spare parts but not much that would be of use to you. Spares for these old cars are becoming harder to find on this side of the world and my search has taken me over to Australia before now!
Barry - if you read this I've lost your email details (don't ask - long story!) so if you could drop me another one I'd appreciate it.0 -
hello every body
its annakarin here *L*
i looked under the dashboard
and found 2 fuses, one was broken but i cant understand what it is for
everything is working
what is this fuse for ?? theres only 2 fuses in the hole car i think

Thats true Hudson used circult breakers. Generally Hudson used fuses for accessories like a radio, heater or clock.0

Annakarin
1 fuse is for the ignition system, interior lighting, gauges, etc. the other fuse is for the headlights, tailights, rear license lamp, etc.
You might want to buy the manuals for your car. These can be found online very easily. The best one for your current situation would be the 1934-39 Hudson and Terraplane Repair Manual. It is a reproduction of the original Hudson Mechanical Procedure Manual.

When you replaced the clutch fluid, did you flush out all the old fluid? What kind of fluid/oil did you replace it with? Before you change the clutch you might want to try to make sure the clutch corks are clean, especially since you said the fluid you removed was black. The Mechanical Procedure Manual says to use kerosene to flush out the clutch. Perhaps one of the guys that deal with Hudson clutches can make a better recommendation on what to do.
Your car came from the factory with a 9 inch clutch. You can use a 10 inch clutch but you must have a matching 10 inch pressure plate AND flywheel!
You can do the job yourself but you might need help in lifting the transmission out as it has to be removed from the interior of the car. It is not necessary but I would recommend that you remove the front seat to do this.
If you haven't already, you need to buy a Mechanical Procedure Manual.
Good luck and I hope you will soon be cruising again!

Hello Anna,
First question, how much oil did you put in the clutch.?? The correct amount is 1/3 of a pint .
What type of oil did you use.??
When a clutch shudders the main reason is Not enough oil. There are other reasons but that is the main one.
If it slips- too much oil or the corks are worn.
Yes you can use the 10" plate but you must use the flywheel and pressure plate as well.
The thickness of the corks should be .218 just under 1/4' over all.
If you need the clutch reconditioned I recommend Dr Doug, he is the guru of the Hudson clutch in the USA.
I have done them in Australia and have done for many years, but Dr Doug is your man.

thanks for all the anwsers
i will flusch the clutch and then i will put in some hudsonite
will the clutch work directly or schould i drive it for a wile before it wile
work as i should ?
im thinking if the cork is glaced ( i think there was to moutch oil and wrong oil in the clutch)
i have the manual to the car
and it says the car should be driven a couples of hundred miles before the clutch will work as it should be

At this stage I think I would just flush, refill and see what happens, the amount of oil is critical.0
-
ok huddy i will do this and cross my fingers and hope this will fix it
here are some pictures

Anna, thank you for sharing the pictures. I can only dream of having a garage that big. Is that ice inside the garage? Good luck with the clutch. Lee0
