1933 Essex water pump rebuild

on my recently purchased ‘33 Essex it appears the water pump is leaking a bit. I realize there could be a lot of variables that cannot be known until you open the pump up, but in general, if it is leaking, how difficult are they to rebuild?

  • They have packing. If the shaft is not heavily scored, you can just replace the packing and snug it up. If it really needs rebuilding, I believe Jeremy Burris can do it for you.

    Thank you.

Is there ever a “just another 1/4 turn after the break-in mileage” ? The thing looks pretty, but so did the starter and the beauty was only skin deep on that.
