Replacing front coil springs '54 Hornet
I need to remove and replace the front springs on my '54. The service manual says to unbolt the inner frame supports on the lower A arms and raising the car to get the spring out.. But most videos of front spring removal show unbolting the the outer arm where it attaches to the spindle to remove spring. A few guys Ive spoken to all say to undo the outer end. How should I go about this?

I've done it per the manual with no issues, I would imagine either way would work fine. One note, spindle assembly must be centered between the lower control arm with the rubber grease covers in position, might be a little tricky fighting that with it under spring tension.

I just did this recently. unbolt the inner side of the lower control arms. I raised the car WAY up in the air, then supported it with stands. After removing the shocks, I put a floor jack under the lower control arm just inboard of the spring, and removed the four bolts attaching the control arm, and lowered the jack. Do not put the jack under the inner pivot bar, as it will turn over on you. (ask me how I know)

Thank you very much.
Did you add an isolator of any kind to the top of the spring?
