    All I Can Say Is " I Don't Get It" "why " ?
  • Here it is with the engine positioned

(laser-aligned via 3 plumb bobs at

    1) the differential pinion center,

    2) center of tranny output shaft and

    3) the front/center of crankshaft)

and ready for motor & transmission mounts fabrication.

Front of engine is ~ 7/16" offset towards passenger side.

    Coming along now.

Look at the avitar Harry - the bigger the attraction the smaller the brain.

    Hudsonly,

    Alex Burr
  • Hey I love her hat too....... :D
  • I don't get it guys, I don't think we bag on the rat rod guys like some do on John. It's his car and his money. If it was my car I would be restoring it but that is me. If I had the money I would be buying a 49 step down and putting a twin H in it with a three speed and o/d. Sure it wouldn't be stock but I would be what I wanted. I think that is what John is saying, it's not stock but it's what he wants.

  • I wanna ride!

Oh, Alex Burr, I don't know what size brain YOU have, but the CORRECT way to spell "avitar" (as you spelled it) is avAtar.

    Hudsonly yours,

Coming from you, Dave, I suspect that is a compliment; at least I take it that way.

    So, thanks!

  • John, i think it's funnier than hell to see the responses you are getting on your really outstanding car! It would've been a pleasure to own either as a restored car OR as a modified, and I hope you enjoy yourself for many years in that '54, because in the end, it is YOUR car and no one else's! I might do something likt that to my '37 one day, don't know yet, but if I do, I'll have lots of pics of it posted, just to get the blood going in some folks!

I say "Good on ya!", and enjoy your car! If I see you at a Hudson event, I want a ride, OK? -- Patrick

Patrick, Thanks for the great thoughts; almost as good as a Marguerita!

In a way I understand where each is coming from and I sort-of understand their frustration.

    You shall have that ride.

That's "Margarita", there, Tool. And SuperDave had it right.

Sorry, Mike, but even Don Robertson knew it was Marguerita!

Who makes my heart beat like thunder?

    Who makes my temperature rise?

Who makes me tremble with wonderful rapture

With one burning glance, from her eyes

    Marguerita...

Once I was free as a gypsy

A creature too wild to tame

    Then suddenly I saw, Marguerita

And I was caught, like a moth in the flame

    Marguerita...is her name

    Marguerita...

Her lips have made me her prisoner

A slave to her every command

She captivates me, and intoxicates me

With one little touch of her hand

    Marguerita....

    Sweet...Marguerita...sweet, sweet Marguerita....

    and Marguerita-ville

Here is a frozen Marguerita Pie receipe.

We are both right, Mike. You make my very points!!

Similarly, with Hudson cars one may be "original", and another may look original yet have a bastardized driveline; they both can serve their purposes intended. We can live in peace, after all.

    Have a great day.

29,400,000 hits on Google can't be wrong, John- The drink (to which you were apparently referring) is a Margarita, your references to a girl, a Nebraska bed and breakfast, and a pie recipe notwithstanding. "I'll stand by my answer, Alex, and will take "Tropical Drinks" for 4 hundred".

Mike, please check out this receipe:

Tequila Vertigo: 1.25oz gold tequila, fill 1/2 marguerita mix, 1/2 sprite/7up, shake or blend and pour over rocks.

We can both be right and both drive Hudsons (one with original driveline, and one w/bastardized driveline), and still shake hands in friendship, I HOPE!!

    Thanks,

    John
  • Where else could a post about a front end mod offer drink recipes....where else I ask you.....
  • I am attempting to keep this friendly and focus on the driveline mods, not bring out all of the negativity that seems to be surfacing.

Please write something positive and stay friendly.

    Thanks.
  • Exactly talk about the mod and how it is done. No need for BS. Everyone has their own opinions about how cars should be modded. Some cars I mod some cars I don't. No knocking the front end work it looks top notch. Thats what we should be discussing you need to do some braking and turning radius tests and post the results that would be a good discussion and keep posting drink recipes though always post a disclaimer do not drink and drive....

I dont see why you didnt post this in the street rod section ?? couldnt you get the needed attention there?? all I can see is it looks like your lucky you have good ole Marvin to do the work, you sure talk the talk !!!!!
  • OMG, and Hudsontech and Superdave think I'm the problem on this forum....

geez. I'm so glad I got those two on my ignore list. Still sad to see they are still posting negative comments about the members on this forum. I guess they can't just not read a thread if they don't like it. I just wish I didn't have to read it via "quotes" I find their remarks OFFENSIVE.

come on guys, let's give it a break already. just put 54 HSWH on your ignore list. I feel that the secret 7 that are on mine, it makes reading the forum so much better. I enjoy reading it now, because I don't have to read a single word of their crap. Seriously, put him on there, and hudsontech, you won't have to see his "offensive" avatar. I guess some folks don't like healthy gals? Hey, that's cool. no problem here.

The last couple pages here, are perfect examples of how there are separate rules. How can calling someone a Horse's A$$ not be found offensive, I sure hope something was done about that. Hey, this isn't a free for all....

Quite frankly I don't agree with what you did to the car, but it looks so well done, and I bet you will enjoy this car far more than a lot of other people will. I think that it's great. If you get to a meet, around my way someday, look me up. I would like a ride.
  • Hudson kid, you make some very good points, and GRADUALLY those who marginally tend to disagree will in the end AGREE once the car is finished.

It will look totally original externally at car shows, but once the hood is raised "the cat is out of the bag", so to speak.

And at the drag strip with the drag radials smoking on the rear and the front wheels off the ground, just listen for "thunder road" (maybe with the Jet). A few time slips will emerge, but PLEASE don't tell R&R or they will want to race and ONLY if their car is quicker (tongue in cheek).

Marvin says he can't wait to work on the Jet; we hope to single turbo-charge it if I don't run out of money first.

You will have that ride. .......the list is growing

    hehe

It is pretty easy to set back and type away, but once two people happen to cross paths typing doesnt work too well (tongue in cheek)
  • russ, I just sent you my telephone # via PM, plus I telephoned you and left a message for you to call me back.

Nice to see that you are following this buildup. I know that you don't like what I'm doing so let it lie.

If you have anything else to send to ME (personally apparent) send it via PM, because you apparently want this to get personal. This thread is about the cars, not about us.

Okay, with eleven pages of posts so far, this thread seems to have covered all possible opinions (and a few more as well). Now that it seems to be going wildly off-course, let's just give it a rest and move along...
