found some old pics

Snooped thru an old picture album my deceased wife put together & found the following which I thought some of you might find interesting: 4 pics of a '41 station wagon in a junk yard in Tucson taken at least 30 years ago, now owned by Perry Spring in Calif. Several pics of the '42 wagon near Ballarat, Calif. (a ghost town in Death Valley), now in Eldon's museum. Several pics of Paul Simm's '42 wagon when he had it & also when Jim Fritts displayed it at the annual "Woody Meet" in Encinitas, Calif. (near where I used to live) - he won Best of Show with it; was really neat as many of those attending would say things like "I didn't know Hudson even made station wagons". The '41 wagon Bill A. restored when still at Weber's in Ill.
A pair of '37 T PUs in a Fresno, Calif. junkyard, taken in '70 & a photo of one in a junkyard in Vegas in '67.
Somewhere, if I could ever find it, I have a pic I took of a Dover mail truck in a yard in SLC & my old buddy Gary Klann in front of a '37 T panel delivery at the Denver dealership's used car lot!
I ran into this stuff while looking for the pic of the '39 Harrah Railton, LOL.
I found photos we took of dealerships in: Woreland, Wyo., Olivia, Minn., Traverse City, Mich., Belle Fourche, S. D., SLC, Wallace, Idaho, Miles City, Mt., and North Platte, Nebr. These were all taken 30 to 40 years ago.

Okay, pete....we're interested! Now what??0
-
Peter K...., did you ever get a scanner? If you would like to share the pictures electronclly... send them to me as in the past ... and I will scan. Send you the originals back and post the electronics for you.
Let me know.0 -
Ken - think that would work better than if I took pics of them with a digital camera, etc.?0
-
Depends on the detail you want... if you use a tripod and a diffused light your should get pictures good enough for the Internet. If you want to do any printing... of the results should use a scanner. If you need the help ... ready to oblige.
Cheers0 -
Those sound like neat pictures to share. Scanning an original picture would look better than taking a picture of an original..0
-
you got me all excited, then no pics! hudson trucks are my weakness!!0

Having occasional lapses due to CRS remembered we just bought & I installed a new printer last week - looked at it & it scans too SO will take a crack at that here. (too hot here in Phoenix to do much else right now, LOL)
Jon/Ken - after I get them scanned into my PC you'll need to tell me how to transfer them to this website.
This will take me some time as the pics are in a big photo album so need to take them from pages, etc., etc. Think I'll do the station wagons 1st - I have a BIG color one of the professionally restored '37 T wagon that has disappeared. The guy who had it done (Jon remembers his name) sent me this big pic of it as I "turned him on to it".0 -
You can either have a friend scan them, or you can take them to a camera store and have them scan them. The quality of the scans will be more or less the same regardless of which method you choose. If you do the latter, most any camera store or photo store could scan them in a few minutes.
I scanned a bunch of historic photos recently, then uploaded the scanned images to snapfish and had duplicate prints made of all of them. My historic photos were square, so I had to consider how they were going to be cropped because of the fact that photos these days are rectangular.
I love historic pics. Can't wait to see them.0 -
I'm going to try it here. Have run into connectivity problems with having both PCs use the same printer (no problem with old one); having PC repair guy come by, he set me up at my wife's house about 6 months ago.
I want to use my PC as I have a Photoshop program to darken some of them, perhaps crop them, etc. - have scanned 1st page with 4 pics of the '41 Tucson junkyard station wagon into her PC BUT can't get it into mine. He's coming over in 2 hrs., should have techie stuff solved & set up. Buddy came over, spent 2 hrs., & he couldn't figure it out - will probably get rid of a bunch of "high tech" stuff such as routers, etc. here which her deceased husband used as he was a scientist.
Hmm, just remembered I have photo of self with my '49 S6 cp. all ready to go to college in '55, LOL. I had it painted blue & white, lowered it, planed the hood & deck by the body man at the Hudson dealer where I'd worked in h.s. - I bought the '49 used from the dealer that summer, had been a farmer's car, was low mileage.0 -
Just sent Jon the 4 pics of the '41 wagon, taken in '67, in Tucson junkyard. Gonna see if that is the way to do it.0
-
printer bought 3 days ago will not support networking (found that out after "techie" spent over 2 hours = $147 bill) amongst other possible problems with installing/setting it up to scan SO it's going back to Best Buys to hopefully trade for one that does.0
-
Well, be sure to keeep us posted!;)0

Just sent pic of the '42 wagon sitting in Death Valley & largely intact, now a pile of wood! Hope Jon is getting this OK & will be able to post it.0

This is the one I'm really anxious to see. Is this the one that Eldon Hostetler restored? Be cool to find another one . . . could put my car restoration and wood working skills to use at the same time.0 -
no, Eldon has it on display as it was when he got it. The "'42 Commodore 8" station wagon is something he made from a '42 C8 sd. - all the '41 & '42 station wagons were on the Super Six chassis.
If you see photos of it as it is now you'll see the body has "imploded" from it's original state when in Death Valley as during removal it just fell apart.0 -
Haven't heard nor seen "hide nor hair" of Jon since sending pics 3 days ago, assume he's out of town.
Spent at least an hour trying to add pic of the '42 wagon to a post here but no go - it simply shouldn't be that difficult to do, but they sure make it so!
Just tried again, nada!0 -
Let's see if this enhanced & smaller file will transfer.0
-
aha, with this little "victory" will forge forward with scanning & post.0

Congratulations, Pedro!0

Old Hudsons
if you wish, you email them to me and I'll post them full screen (any size) on hudsoncollector, and add a link on this thread here to take you directly to them with one click.
That'll bring out all the fine detail.
My email is HETryan.ankney@gmail.com (remove the HET)

OK, may take you up on that, depending on how long it takes me to scan & post to here - if quicker to just e-mail you, we'll go that route.0
-
Sent you photos of a '46 S6 conv. I had over 40 years ago, let me know if you get it OK.0

Don't hesitate to send as many as you like -- they'll all be appreciated !

Thank you Pete and Ryan! Love the 42-47's. Especially like the way the "running boards" are hidden. These are really good looking cars, especially the convertibles! Found one recently (a '46) that might be for sale in a couple of years, maybe if I'm lucky, we'll see.
Keep'em coming, Pete!0 -
Gee what nice big pics!
Visible in the one pic is a '46 S6 bus. cp. that was my "daily driver" for quite some time. The original owner said he got it sans bumpers or rear compartment but that later the dealer called him in to have the bumpers installed however he never got the rear compartment. I used template I made off a '41 T bus. cp. to make one for the car.
I sold the '46 S6 cp. to one of my buddies with whom I worked, probably 30 years ago, he still has it, used it in the wedding of a daughter a few months ago!
More pics will be coming your way as far faster & more efficient for me, TY.0 -
Just sent Silver pics of the '42 Death Valley wagon as it now sits in Eldon's museum in Ind.0

Here's the next batch that you sent Pete, but now that there's more than one picture (page), you'll have to choose which one you want, and click on that.
Here's the route to the threads http://www.hudsoncollector.com/forum_viewforum.php?230 -
OK - going to scan & send to you 2 pics of the ex-Harold Jornt '48 Derham limo, one taken probably 30 - 35 years ago, other in '96 after restoration, and to be auctioned this weekend.
I do have several other pics of it but just doing these 2.0 -
That done, will send some scans & brief histories of a few Italias. At one time most of the known Italias were in the L. A. metro area.0

I'm not sure what happened there Pete, but that file came in really small, ( only about 12 K).
I've posted it as recieved, but if you can redo it and send me a bigger file, I'll fix it up asap.
Thanks for the pics -- send as many more as you wish !
