47 Hudson,
You are absolutely Correct...
In addition to what I mentioned earlier, Smokey Yunick made NASCAR begin the 'Pre Race' Inspection process to try catching (some) of Smokey's tricks..
Additional Info on Vince Piggins is he was hired by Chevrolet to help make their new V8 into a High Performance Motor. Vince created the High Perf options under the guise of HD Parts similar to his 'severe Usage' Program at Hudson. Both Men made a significant & lasting Impact on Racing....
Thank You for the reply... Ol Racer0 -

Does anyone out there have a picture of Tim Flock with Jacko, for that matter does anyone have a picture of Jacko at all? With the new "Speed Racer" movie coming up it occured to me that Jacko was the original Chim Chim.0

Rare Photo of two Fabulous Hudson Champions, Marshall Teague & Herb Thomas working one of their Hudson's over. Yes, early NASCAR Drivers worked on their cars then raced 250 Laps or more sometimes after driving all night from another Race Track.... Plus they raced without Power Steering or cooling type firesuits/helments .(Dont you wonder how many of todays Drivers could race an entire event without all their modern ammenities).....
Anybodys guess what they are doing.. Setting Timing?, Notice the Aluminum Head, Studs, Mesh air filters... Pretty stock appearing...Obviously they were not concerned with weight since I noticed some Items still on Car..... Ol Racer ........,,,,,,,, Picture curtesy Rudy Bennett collection0 -

An actual 1954 Reciept from Legendary Smokey Yunicks "Best D___ Garage in Town' for $498.50 to modify & prepare a Hudson for the 'Daytona Beach Race".... Very Rare !!!! from Rudy Bennett's collection Granted the Dollar value was a lot different back then but it didnt take much to 'prep a Hudson' since they were so fast from the Factory....0 -

Another very rare Document..............A copy of Legal Papers from Hudson Motor Car for a Hornet they provided to Marshall Teague to utilize as his personal 'tow Car' for the Race Car. Marshall ended up driving the Car in the '53 Mexican Road Race....[/B] Documentation that Hudson was the 1st Factory Supporter of NASCAR Racing Rudy Bennett Collection0 -
Check this Out...........
So you thought only Hudson Hornets were Fast....... Well read on...
In 1949 Marshall Teague was the 'fastest Hudson qualifier' at DAYTONA in a '49 Hudson, presumably a 262... No Speed listed; Then In '1950 Russ Lee was the 'fastest Qualifer' at DAYTONA in another Hudson (262) @ 92.48 MPH...
Check out the racing 'Uniforms' and the 'Tow Bar' still attached verifying the cars were either towed or driven State to State on the narrow twisting two lane highways ( Prior to our Interstate System) Gave the Drivers plenty of practice. Heard ocassionally the Tow car got raced too.....................Rudy Bennett collection0 -
Most of the pictures that i sent to oldracer were in the W.T.N. of years back,so a lot of people had a hand in sending them in to the WTN. Thanks so much to all. Hudsonly RUDY0

[want to apologize for not mentioning White Triangle News previously. By enlarging & scanning individual pictures the original source was inadvertently omitted. The nice thing about this Thread is that (hopefully) a lot of people were able to see a picture or two not previously seen... Pictures that I did not already have will be laminated then added to my Hudson Hornet Binder on display in the NC Racing Hall of Fame Museum
Not sure if pictures can print from the Forum so If anyone seen a favorite picture that was Posted I could email it to them in jpeg format..
Thanks to Hudson Kid for this Post, Rudy Bennett for sharing his collection, Butch Smith, and everyone that has contributed for helping preserve Hudson's fantastic Racing Record....0 -
