Some people do not know that Mario Andretti started his career in a Hudson race car in the Nazareth Pa. area. In his biography book there are some pictures of the cars. One was an early sedan bodied modified and the other was a 48 or 49 stepdown coupe. With all the cloning of the Nascar Hornets, I think it would be great if someone cloned one of Marios rides. He was a great racer that has a direct involvment with Hudsons.0

I agree on the clone Idea. Mario and his twin Marco both raced the Hudson secretly from their Father until Marco got hurt. I never seen a picture of their first Hudson but I have a copy of a letter that Mario sent Mitzi Teague thanking her for selling him one of Marshall's Fabulous Hornet Motors for his modified that is pictured......0

Hudsons were very Powerful Winning Cars for their Drivers to be still ranked among the Very Best in NASCAR's 60 Year Existence!

I'm good friends with both of Walt's nephews and have heard all the great stories from them both. I hope you don't mind if I print off a picture for Mike to display at his and Deb's restaurant.

I don't know - I've always considered Richard Petty top driver of them all - but that could be "era" thinking. I'm 72 (Richard Petty is exactly 2 months older than I am).
I think the only way to separate Earnhardt - admittedly one hell of a driver - and Petty would be by era; tie for 1st with Petty for the 1950-1970 era and Earnhardt for the 1970-1990 era.
Who could we pick for the 1990-2010 era?? Well, there's Geoff Gordon for one. Kyle Bush is coming up - but I don't think he's reached his full potential just yet. He's still a little wild - Lord help the competition if he ever settles down and starts driving consistently like he has shown in the past couple years. Right now he's letting emotion - and the need to win - get in the way.
But that's just my opinion.

MARC (Midwestern Association of Race Cars) Series Hornet Race Car
Western Reserve Chapter's News letter, 'Hornets Nest' arrived today with a Hornet Racer pictured along with some interesting history of the old MARC Race Series I thought about sharing.
To quote excerpts from the Article by Tom Gleydura, MARC was founded in 1953 by John Marcum, a NASCAR official and friend of NASCAR's Owner big Bill France.
NASCAR Raced primarily in the South, so Marcum thought a Regional smaller Base Series would work on Tracks in Ohio, Indiana, & Pa, where just like in NASCAR in that period, Hornets dominated up until 1955. (The last MARC Hudson Win was in Canfield Oh, on June 25, 1953.
Hudson had 14 Wins in 1953 at 7 different Tracks and 7 Wins in 1954 at 5 Tracks, then the final Win in '55. The MARC Name was changed to ARCA in 1964, because the Series went National.
The picture below is Jim Romine's Hornet , the 1953 MARC Series Champion!0
